Improving Student Success

Math and Reading

When Danielle ran for school board in 2021, only about 1 in 4 students in Albuquerque Public Schools were on grade level. Today, test scores are rising: reading has gone up by more than 8 points and math by almost 7 points across the district. At Valley High School, reading scores jumped 11 points in just one year! The focus on strong academics is working—and we need to keep going.

Leading with Policy and Experience

As Board President and Policy Chair, she led a full review of APS policies and made big changes to protect students and improve schools:

Protected Learning

Updated book-ban rules so only parents at a school can challenge materials, and decisions are made by a fair committee of parents, teachers, and experts.

Higher Standards

Ensured academics focus on grade-level learning, cultural relevance, quality materials, and timely feedback for parents.

Protected Kids

Strengthened policies to support transgender students and safeguard immigrant families from harassment.

Safer Schools

Secured funding for fencing, cameras, emergency alert badges, and safer entrances. Danielle is the only candidate endorsed by Everytown for Gun Safety.

Fair Schools

Improved dress code and discipline rules to focus on equity, fairness, and a positive school climate.

Prepared Graduates

Added financial literacy as a graduation requirement so every student leaves school with real-world skills.
